Riverview Health will be the title sponsor of the Cicero Triathlon Weekend on June 20-21, 2015. The weekend will consist of the 32nd Annual Cicero Triathlon on Saturday and the 2nd Annual Strawberry 5K and Kids Triathlon on Sunday. All events will be staged at Cicero’s Red Bridge Park and Morse Reservoir. The Hamilton North Chamber of Commerce, working with race management company Heartland Endurance Sports, will host the events.
“Riverview Health has been a valued supporter of our Chamber through the years and now they have picked up the title sponsorship of one of the longest running triathlons in the state. We think the connection between Riverview’s commitment to the health of Hamilton County residents is a good fit with the Triathlon/5K/Youth Triathlon weekend.”, says Jane Hunter, Executive Director of the Hamilton North Chamber of Commerce.
A few course changes have been made to make the Cicero Triathlon a true “sprint triathlon”. The swim portion will be a box course with participants entering Morse Reservoir at the town docks at Red Bridge Park. They will swim out and around buoys marking the course and back to the swim exit at the emergency ramp at the south end of the park. The swim course is 500 meters. The bike course will be extended by .5 mile to make a 10 mile ride. The course will include a jog around Bear Cub Drive off of Mill Creek Road. The 5K run course remains the same.
“These subtle course changes bring the race distance in line with other ‘common’ sprint distance races. We are also excited to add a duathlon, an aquabike and an aquathon category for 2015”, explains TJ Tryon, owner of Heartland Endurance Sports. “We are very excited to include Riverview Health in helping us bring this great race weekend to the area.”
