Cicero Farmer’s Market

Saturday June 2nd, the Town of Cicero will be holding an Arts and Rain Barrel Auction together with the Cicero Farmer’s Market.  The Cicero Stormwater Board has donated of a dozen rain barrels to us for this fun and exciting event.  Current these rain barrels are in the hands of several artists, and organizations who are painting and decorating them for the auction.  For a period before the event you will get the opportunity to see these barrels as they will be lined up along the streets of downtown Cicero on display.  Take a look at those barrels and you can vote for your favorite to win People’s Choice.  Voting will be done through the Home Page of the Town of Cicero website.  The money raised from the auction will go to help the Cicero Parks Department with their efforts to beautify downtown Cicero.

The Downtown will be alive with many activities for young and old alike.  A list of activities associated with the event are below.  The Farmer’s Market will be expanded to have an Arts Showcase that will include Artwork, Craftwork, Artist Demonstrations, Plein Air Painters, A photography contest of Cicero landmarks,  and many more.  There will even by activities for kids such as sidewalk chalk art, helping paint a rain barrel and learning about what happens to the water that hits their roof top after it falls. 

Don’t forget the great booths that normally accompany a Farmer’s Market.  There will be fruit and vegetable vendors, local crafts and wares, flower and native plant vendors, and information on what rain barrels and rain gardens are and how they can help you.
